WHAT CAN I SAY?

About Richard Nelson, what can I say?

He, a large part in our family does play.

He had long hair and is the oldest of two,

His eyes are a mischievous, sparkling blue!!

He and brother, Scott are the last of the line,

But their daughters will preserve it just fine.

His Grandmas lived with them while he was small,

He was kind to them and Mother, when she came to call!

We admire his work on our genealogy;

And his grasp of the new technology!

He has great drive and energetic ambition

Which brought his film Doctorate to fruition.

I first met him while we were attending BYU

When he joined the "downstairs tenant" crew!

He is a great Guy, I knew on first sight!

For my big sister, Valoie, he'd be just right!

A few years passed and Valoie came to call,

He lived nearby and there was no time to stall!!

All three of us met at a restaurant to eat,

They talked all night I guess, ‘cause I fell asleep!

A few weeks later the wedding was planned,

I was a bridesmaid and Scott was Best Man!

The marriage ceremony was smooth and lovely,

We all enjoyed the celebration and revelry!

He came to my rescue while living in LA

When after graduation I came there to stay.

After I found a job and was getting on my feet,

They showered me with love and their "jokes” were a treat.

During their marriage two daughters came along

Both of them were cute, intelligent and strong!

They are providing their parents with some grandkids,

The grandparents' reaction just tickles my ribs!!

They send many packages of every kind,

The grandchildren look forward to what they will find!!

Richard and Valoie both have generous hearts,

In their life true compassion plays a great part!

We know life is full of tumultuous up and downs,

But in our estimation, Richard deserves a gold crown!!

His work on our ancestors is a gift beyond price'

He will be rewarded when they review the Book of Life!
