"She Is Important In Your Life"

by Colleen Elayne Parent Crawford

We have a sister-in-law named Elese,

Her creative talents just never cease.

She was raised on a farm in Arimo,

In the Southern part of Idaho.

She paints, knits, sews and bakes,

And excels at lovely wedding cakes.

She has lively sense of humor, too,

That perks us up when we're feeling blue.

Once for her brother she did knit

A sweater that read "B--- S---“!

It was exactly the right one for him

Since he raised steers risking life and limb!

But she is "straight arrow" LDS,

To follow God's laws she does her best!

After school a mission call came her way,

For 24 months in Denmark she did stay.

After her return she was hired by Ernest,

He was a BYU President of the finest.

He found Elese to his taste

And hired her with undue haste.

Brother Vernon was searching for a wife;

It took him thirty-nine years of his life.

He wanted a “homemaker" he told me,

Elese was the one he needed to see!

So a Higher Power took control,

And sent them both to Palo Alto.

A Voice helped him to spot "prospective wife"

And said "She'll be important in your life!"

So, they were married at a later date;

By my reckoning August of 1968.

They lived many years in California's Sunnyvale

But now Logan is the place they receive their mail.

Six fine children they did raise,

Teaching them to follow God's ways.

Now Grandchildren enrich their days,

Grandpa and Grandma enjoy the part they play!

For twelve years she's worked in genealogy

Then wrote a book for her progeny.

We're proud to have her in our family,

And hope she's glad as well as we!!
