EDWARD ALPHONSE

by Colleen Elayne Parent Crawford

Vernalite two came right along,

And cheerfully joined the happy throng.

Alphonse was Grandfather's name,

Edward's second was the same.

At the age of four, his appendix burst.

Mother and Daddy feared the worst!

But, he recovered we're glad to say,

And is our sweet brother to this day!

He became the model for the younger boys,

And his inventive mind brought them joy!

Bows and arrows and rockets he did create,

There was no question, they were first rate.

He earned "Order of the Arrow" in scouts

He was a handsome brave without a doubt!

He performed excellently in High School,

And had many friends who were "real cool"!

Yinks and Nyholm were the best,

They were closer than the rest.

After fishing they were known to share,

The salmon they caught was beyond compare!

Ed received his Mission Call to France,

Daddy was so proud he had the chance

To visit the family's famed ancestral land

And share our heritage and Heavenly Father's Plan!!

After finishing he returned to B.Y.U.,

Bought a home and fed a crew!

He took a few years to just enjoy life,

Then selected Sydette Brown to be his wife!

I was very glad he was still around,

When as a Freshman I was found,

Trying to escape the attentions of a man.

He rescued me and gained a lifelong fan!!

He graduated with an M.B.A.

The earned his Doctorate another day.

For years he worked with Dr. Brown

Help patients turn their lives around.

He served as Bishop for a Ward.

Their love and gratitude is his reward.

Lately he's counseled wedded pairs,

Their broken marriage vows to repair!

Health challenges have come his way,

But they're not allowed to stop him—“No way!"

He is one of Our Father's most valiant ones

and God will say "Well done my faithful son"!!!
