THE LAST OF THE LINE

by Colleen Elayne Parent Crawford

Colleen Elayne is child number nine,
She is the last of the Frost-Parent line.
Mom always wanted her youngest to be a girl,
She got her with freckles and golden curls.

Colleen’s earliest lasting memory,
Is the family’s move to
Crescent City.
By
Pacific Ocean and redwood forest she grew,
Until attending college at B.Y.U.

Her childhood is filled with happy memories,
Especially when the family went to the sea.
At
Pebble Beach the children often played,
They would rarely swim, but liked to wade.

They would go “under the bridge” for a swim,
Swing from the rope, then dive right in!
On Holidays, she got her fondest wish.
When siblings came home to visit and fish.

She was plagued by “Witch of Torment” played by sis,
It was not funny then but now it really is!
She visited Lila to calm Mother’s worries,
And told her kids fantastic stories.

In school she was always at the top pf the class,
Others would moan when the “Curve” she crashed.
Upon High School graduation she won a scholarship,
Four years of college was really helped by it!!!

At age Twenty-one she received her mission call,
The LTM helped her prepare for the long haul!
She never said it was the best two years she spent,
But in later years she thought so and did repent!

Her siblings all married before she did,
Then four times she married the same “kid”!
Obviously, she was not one to give up,
And should easily win the “Persistence Cup”!!

She held many jobs during her life,
The constant one being partner and wife.
She and Rick invested in real estate,
And enjoy its rewards to this date.

Rick had children with others before he met her,
She is glad of the chance to play “Grandmother”!!
Scrap booking is her hobby since last Spring,
She fills pages with poems, photos and things.
